California-based startup FORM has unveiled a modern day stress-free
camper. spacious, lightweight, solar-powered and compatible with most pickup trucks, the FORM camper is super easy to detach and is able to transform into a comfortable living area, indoor/outdoor kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor space. its freestanding design is both flexible and stable and allows users to detach it and drive to their next destination camper-free.
‘as a team of industrial designers and engineers from california, our journey to building form started a few years ago when we purchased a sprinter to customize into a camper van,’ FORM told designboom. ‘this process gave us insight into the great possibilities of what a camper could be. sprinter camper vans generally cost well over 6 figures and unless you’re ready to live out of your van on a more permanent basis, most of them end up being used in limited ways. that got us thinking that there were opportunities to modernize and make the camper experience more flexible and enjoyable.’
UNIQUE SPACES THAT MAKE FOR AN ENJOYABLE CAMPING EXPERIENCE
the universal FORM camper can be used with the F150, the silverado, and the cybertruck among others, and provides unique spaces that make for an enjoyable camping experience. the interiors feature 70 square feet of total floor space, where users will find a full-size bed with memory foam mattress and vaulted ceilings with lexan windows. 25 cubic feet of storage underneath the bed helps with keeping the space clean and tidy while a foldable chair and table allows for multiple uses.
the camper also comes with a indoor and outdoor hybrid kitchen — with a simple push, users can bring the kitchen outdoors for an added sense of adventure and practicality. appliances include a fridge, stove and sink, and the full cookware set includes utensils, pans, coffee maker and more. the bathroom has been designed with comfort and functionality in mind. a NEBIA showered creates a misted shower effect and uses only 0.8 gallons per minute. FORM’s water filtration system includes 100 gallons, meaning that the shower can be used for two straight hours.
the FORM camper comes with to separate awnings that provide 124 square feet of dry, private space. made of ripstop nylon and with an elastic zip, this can be used as a tent too.
the camper features a carbon-fiber body that results in a lightweight and durable design — its industry-leading dry weight accounts around 1000lbs and 1300lbs of wet weight. it has a 50-gallon fresh water storage capacity and a 100-gallon of usage capacity with reverse osmosis. as for great water, it has 50 gallons of storage capacity and an easy system to remove them. a 12V 300Ah deep cycle lithium ion battery (solar energy will power battery for non-electric trucks) powers it.
