Syrian in lebanon

The European Parliament’s decision to keep the displaced Syrians in Lebanon reacted, and internal reactions continued to denounce it, because of the dangers it poses to Lebanon, and considered it a European evasion from assuming responsibility, and a European attempt to use the displaced card against the Syrian regime.

In this context, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gebran Bassil, commented on the European decision, saying: “With what right does he demand that, and with what authority is he imposed on us what he does not accept on his countries?” Let the Europeans stop financing the displaced. He asked: “By what right does he ask for that?” And with what authority does he impose on Lebanon what it does not accept on the European Union countries, as the ceiling for immigration does not exceed 30,000 for all of Europe, while in Lebanon there are 2 million displaced people.

He said, "If European countries are interested in the return of the displaced, let them contribute to the financing of their return or take them to Europe," stressing that "the right is on Lebanon because of the inaction of officials, and immediate diplomatic measures are required from the Foreign Ministry against the employees of the UNHCR and the European Union, in addition to a response from the House of Representatives with a decision." It is clear and obligatory for the government to start organizing a dignified and safe return, in parallel with a non-hostile popular movement, but peaceful pressure to encourage their return.

The head of the "Marada" movement, Suleiman Franjieh, said in a tweet that "the decision issued by the European Union regarding the Syrian refugees is a decision that contradicts Lebanon's sovereignty." And while we categorically reject it, we call on the state to complete the serious work to secure the return of refugees to their country.

The political aide to the Speaker of Parliament, Representative Ali Hassan Khalil, confirmed via Twitter: “The decision of the European Parliament is a decision to say the least that it is unfair in parallel against Lebanon and the Lebanese and against Syria and the Syrians, because it places a burden on a continent like Europe, which wants to Throw his weight on Lebanon ». He added, “He is preventing the Syrians from returning to their land and country, and he wants to put them in conditions that are more like forced residence on Lebanese soil, in order to ensure that they do not think of going to European countries across the Mediterranean. It is an unfortunate decision that the European legislative institution puts the Lebanese and Syrians before options, all of which fall short of the concept of national sovereignty and international laws.

In turn, the Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, Representative Ibrahim Kanaan, tweeted, “The positions condemning the European Parliament’s decision regarding the displaced Syrians in Lebanon do not fatten, enrich, or absolve some of their negligence from the beginning in facing this reality or serious work to address and change it in cooperation with The European parliamentary parties and blocs that opposed him, led by thierry mariani and his colleagues in the National Assembly, especially its president, Jordan Bardella. He concluded, "Goodbye, in October, in Strasbourg, for an expanded meeting in the European Parliament on this issue."

Likewise, a member of the “Strong Republic” bloc, Representative Ghassan Hasbani, tweeted via “Twitter” and said: “After the petition that we submitted last week, the European Parliament issued the following decision: “Calling for the formation of an independent international fact-finding committee and sending it to Lebanon to investigate the crime of the Beirut explosion within the framework of United nations".

The excellent Jaafari Mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, addressed the political forces and the Lebanese government, saying: “The European Union is conspiring against Lebanon regarding the displaced, and the European Parliament deals with Lebanon as an exile for refugees, and is leading an international campaign to stigmatize Lebanon with hostility, hatred and racism, with the background of keeping the displaced away from the gardens of Europe, and it has proven Europe in this regard is that it is Nazi, fascist, tyrannical, and has endless tyranny. And he stressed that “what is required is to protect Lebanon from the game of nations, and the Beirut-Damascus road is a strategic means of salvation, as well as the extraordinary relationship with Damascus that is a vital necessity for Syria and Lebanon.”
